Straniero
The Mediterranean is the world’s deadliest migration route, with tens of thousands risking their lives each year in search of a new life in Europe. For many, Italy is the first destination - a country rich in history and cultural exchange, but what awaits beyond its shores often falls short of the dream.
Straniero offers an intimate look into the lives of five migrants in Rome, a city romanticised but rarely scrutinised through this lens. Through their stories, the film explores the harsh realities of social rejection, bureaucracy and the ongoing search for home in a place that resists them at every turn.
